Our Community Cares spotlights Registered Nurse Monica Sibert!
In honor of Nurse Appreciation week, we are featuring Monica Sibert, who has been a nurse for 33 years and works at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital as a PACU nurse recovering patients post surgery. Monica, like many nurses, has had her regular responsibilities and schedules changed during this crisis, was deployed to a Covid-19 patient floor, when surgeries shifted to emergency only.
When asked to describe what her transition has been like Monica said…. “I cannot express how hard the nurses are working on this floor. It’s been humbling to take care of these patients day in and day out. Human touch is a thing of the past right now, and any patients that do not have a good outcome cannot even have their loved ones with them. Holding someone’s hand as they die is closure for everyone, that cannot be done right now. I think emotionally, this is the most difficult thing to deal with. As we all follow the safe guidelines, we will get through this eventually and return to human touch-- one of the most important aspects of nursing care that may have been forgotten until now.”
As the front-line workers of this world health crisis, nursing professionals need our support now more than ever. Across the globe, human touch and social interaction, although missed, are on hold for a very important reason. Our commitment to social distance, along with the skill and dedication of nurses everywhere, is how life saving differences are made every day. We all have those special nurses in our lives. Let’s continue to show our gratitude, love and support for their efforts in any way we can.
To all nurses and medical professionals… THANK YOU and we appreciate all your hard work.
In honor Monica and all of her fellow nurses, please give a shout out, like and share this post to show them Our Community Cares!
