Our Community Cares spotlights the Braintree Grab and Go Meals Program!
The Braintree Grab and Go Meals Program is a FREE breakfast and lunch program for all children 21 years old and under. Sarah Coughlin, Director of Food and Nutrition for Braintree Schools, and her dedicated staff are working tirelessly to make sure every child in our community, regardless of town of residence or school attended, have access to nutritious meals during the Covid-19 school closures.
The program is managed out of the Hollis and Ross School cafeterias, where teams of school nutrition professionals prepare fresh and delicious breakfasts and lunches. These meals are conveniently packed for multiple days and every meal is in compliance with USDA standards. Thousands of meals are skillfully prepared and recipients are even offered choices of menu items! This past Thursday over 7,200 meals were prepared and distributed to meet the needs of over 900 local families. The team’s commitment to the children of our community is inspiring and they are true HEROES!
Meals can be picked up on Mondays and Thursdays from 10am until 12pm at Hollis Elementary School (482 Washington Street, pick-up in parking lot off of Webster Road) or Ross Elementary (20 Hayward Street). Each pick-up day, you will be given enough breakfasts and lunches to last until the next pickup day. No ID or sign up is required and parents may pick up on behalf of their kids. For more information go to Braintree Public Schools, or visit their websites braintreeschools.org and braintreeschoolmeals.com.
